Red-tailed hawk (series), White Slough

Vallejo CA, December, 2020

I took this series of photos of a red-tailed hawk first landing on, then trying to contend with, a flimsy tree with a lot of bare twigs. The twigs prevented an orderly folding of wings, as you can see, but the bird finally managed. It wasn’t long, however, before a better perch was sought, so I was able to photograph the hawk in flight before s/he settled on some bushes near me. –Sally Mack, Dec 3, 2020
