Backyard feral, Vallejo CA

This sick, skinny cat arrived in my backyard with the regular group of ferals (who have all been neutered) last Tuesday, April 28, 2026. Unlike the others, though, he was friendly, came up to me for petting the first time he saw me. His fur is dirty, full of burrs, eyes barely open, very low energy.

Because he was friendly and liked being petted, the trapper was able to pick him up, put him in a trap, and take him to a clinic with vets where he’s being cared for. Dental problems may account for his thinness, having made eating painful.

Since he is obviously not feral, I’m hoping he’s adoptable and not returned to the street. I’ve made a donation to the clinic caring for him.

NOTE: Originally, everyone concerned thought he was a she. It wasn’t until he got to a vet that a determination could be made. This post corrects the original one.
